In Remembrance…

On Tuesday November 11, 2014 we pay tribute and remember those members of the armed forces – some who selflessly sacrificed their own precious lives in the line of duty — who have served their nation in war, in armed conflict, and in the effort of sustaining world peace.

Past, present and future we salute those who have served and those who continue to serve at home and overseas. Without them there would be no freedom.

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, during this very sad and difficult time.

“Wishing you strength for today and hope for tomorrow.”

Fall Back this Weekend!

As the saying goes, spring forward, fall back…
daylight-savings

Don’t forget to turn back your clocks this weekend and enjoy that extra hour of sleep Saturday night!

“Daylight Savings Time” is a way of making better use of the daylight in the evenings by setting the clocks forward one hour during the longer days of summer, and back again in the fall.

Daylight savings time will end with a “fall back” to standard time on Sunday November 2, at 2 a.m.

Does Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) Work?

Low level lasers have been proven to be a remarkably safe, effective, painless, and medication-free therapy option for many decades now.

With low level laser, a visible coherent light is applied to specific acupuncture points of the body (ears, hands, feet, etc.). Acupuncture points are access points to the body’s energy path ways called “meridians”. This light energy passes through the layers of the skin at these points and is received within the cell membrane by specific receptors. This causes an increase in the energy in the cell which jump-starts changes that positively stimulate the body’s natural healing mechanisms to restore energy and re-balance the body.

Low level lasers are also known as “cold” lasers, meaning that they do not have a thermal effect and are used to stimulate tissue rather than destroy it. The “cold” laser does not cause any tissue damage because healthy cells exhibit weak or no effects from the low-power laser while unhealthy cells exhibit strong effects. Low level lasers have been in use since the 1960’s to help relieve a variety of conditions and no adverse side effects or negative impacts have been recorded.

Low Level Laser therapy promotes healing. It’s as simple as that!

Migraine Relief

Most of us have experienced a headache or two, but for those suffering from migraine headaches, life can be unbearable for the length of time the attack lasts. In fact for many, these intense migraine headaches can be debilitating to the point of not being able to participate in every day activities because of the severity of the pain.

Migraines are not normal headaches. Migraine is considered a neurological disease.

“Migraines are caused when blood vessels in the brain expand and press against nerves.”

There are many contributing factors and triggers of migraine from certain foods, alcohol (especially wine) medications, and missing sleep, to bright lights, intense physical exertion, weather or barometric pressure changes, and emotional factors such as stress, anxiety and depression, to name a few.

Calgary Laserworks Can Help with Low Level Laser Therapy (Cold Laser)

LLLT is more and more in demand for treating migraine headaches. Low level laser, instead of needles, targets key energy points on the body helping patients heal more quickly and with longer lasting results, allowing them to get back to their daily lives.

Low level laser therapy is a safe and non-drug alternative for pain control! Call 403-301-3730 for relief today.

Quit Smoking with Low Level Laser Therapy

Kick the habit – renew your life!

Low level laser operates on the principle similar to the 5,000 year old ancient Asian healing art of acupuncture. By focusing the laser to target energy points on the body, the intention is that this will stimulate the nerve endings so that the body is able to release natural chemicals called endorphins.

Endorphins have a calming, relaxing effect on the body that helps reduce nicotine and withdrawal symptoms. If the cravings produced by the cigarette addiction are reduced or eliminated the ability to withdraw without significant stress is improved.

Because of the complexities of the psychological side of the addiction, no one can force you to stop smoking, but we can help you eliminate the withdrawal and physical cravings with the use of the low level laser, allowing you to become a non-smoker in the easiest possible way. We will also give you information to help eliminate your emotional desire to smoke and some nutritional guidelines to help you body to detoxify quickly.

There are many ways to give up smoking, but low level laser therapy is a safe, easy, affordable and effective option to consider.

If you long to live a normal, healthy and smoke free lifestyle, it’s never too late to get started. Call Calgary Laserworks at 403-301-3730. As long as you want to quit we can make it easy for you. We’re here to help you succeed.

Relieve Stress & Anxiety

Calgary Laserworks is all about helping people empower themselves to live a healthier, happier life …including reducing stress!

Most of us have many responsibilities and worries, which if we don’t manage well, leave our emergency stress response turned “on” most of the time. The more your body’s stress system is activated, the harder it is to shut off.

Chronic stress disrupts nearly every system in your body and can lead to serious health problems. It can raise our blood pressure, increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, and suppress our immune systems. Not to mention it can speed up the aging process, and really, who needs that?!

Managing stress in our lives is all about taking charge and being in control of our thoughts, our emotions, our schedule, our environment, and the way we handle our issues.

Responsibilities, worries, disappointments are inevitable, but misery is optional!

Worry and anxiety are the emotions that steal our present moments and quality of life. The mind is so powerful no matter how we choose to use it and we always have a choice about the way we respond.

Ready to take your life back?

Jump-start your new, relaxed, centered life with low level laser therapy at Calgary Laserworks. Call at 403-301-3730 to learn more!

Second Hand Smoke

As a non-smoker you are constantly aware of second hand smoke. Even standing downwind from the smoking area outside the office can send the non-smoker running.

Non-smokers exposed to second-hand smoke absorb the same harmful chemicals as smokers. Studies show that even low levels of second-hand smoke exposure can be harmful.

Second hand smoke effects everyone and everything around you. Children, pregnant women, people with breathing issues, your family.

Exposure to second-hand smoke increases your risk for lung disease, heart disease, heart attacks and stroke.

Do something for yourself and those around you. Visit Calgary Laserworks for a new age solution to quit smoking.

Second Hand Smoke Risks

Stop SmokingDid you know that second hand smoke causes almost 50,000 deaths in North America every year? That number includes almost 1000 infants. Those are deaths of non-smokers.

In shock yet?

Smokers are at high risk for many diseases:

  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, including emphysema and chronic bronchitis)
  • Lung cancer
  • Cancer of the mouth, lip, throat and voice box
  • Cancer of the pancreas
  • Breast cancer
  • Cervical cancer
  • Stomach cancer
  • Liver cancer
  • Kidney cancer
  • Bladder cancer
  • Leukemia

To name a few.

Second hand smoke can cause all of these diseases and more in non-smokers as well.

For babies and children, no amount of second-hand smoke is safe. According to the 2012 Canadian Tobacco Use Monitoring Survey (CTUMS), 4.5% of children between the ages of 0 and 17 years were regularly exposed to second-hand smoke in the home.

Time to quit smoking.

Calgary Laserworks can help you quit.
