Too much stress?

“Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.” – Chinese Proverb

Laser therapy stimulates the release of endorphins, those natural “feel-good” chemicals, creating a feeling of well-being. Stress and anxiety can interrupt the smooth flow of energy throughout the body, but laser therapy has been shown to help the energy flow smoothly, reducing stress and lowering anxiety.

If you’re finding it difficult to manage your stress levels and are concerned that’s it’s becoming chronic (lasting longer than 3 months), low level laser therapy is a very good option.

10 Ways Reflexology Can Bring Immense Relief

What is Reflexology anyway?

Reflexology is an ancient Chinese technique that uses pressure-point massage usually on the feet (but also on the hands and ears). It deals with the underlying principle that these pressure points or reflexes relate to every single cell of the body. Working these reflexes restores the flow of energy throughout the entire body and assists it in regaining or maintaining balance.

Did you know that reflexology has been around for thousands of years? It actually originated around the same time as acupuncture!

No one in the West had heard of reflexology until an American ear, nose and throat specialist named Dr. William Fitzgerald, introduced it at the  beginning of this century. He took the first steps toward dividing the body into ten reflex zones and 3000 years after its conception reflexology came to America.

In 1930, Eunice Ingham, a nurse and physiotherapist, refined the “zone therapy” developed by Fitzgerald, to what is known today as reflexology. She was instrumental in charting the feet in detail to determine which part of the sole corresponded to which part of the body.

Reflexology was developed into a skillful, manual therapy, bringing many people relief and many benefits in their often fast-paced and stressful lifestyles. It is now considered a great form of preventative medicine. Since at least 75% of all our health problems can be linked to nervous stress, reflexology is a valuable tool for supporting the well-being of anyone.

10 benefits of reflexology:

  1. Improves circulation & nerve supply
  2. Releases physical & emotional stress
  3. Provides pain relief
  4. Helps the body eliminate toxins
  5. Decreases the number of headaches
  6. Relieves allergy symptoms
  7. Lessens fatigue & enhances energy
  8. Stimulates a healthier immune system
  9. Improves sleep & decreases insomnia
  10. Gives an overall sense of well-being

Reflexology is a very gentle, non-invasive form of healing and can bring immense relief and dramatic changes oftentimes in only a couple of sessions.

Helping Smokers Become Free of Addiction

quitsmokgclockNicotine in cigarettes is a powerfully addictive drug. It is the ingredient that causes the physical addiction to tobacco. Nicotine is a mild stimulant which increases activity in the brain just like caffeine, cocaine and amphetamine. It’s also a powerful toxin, and likely the reason you coughed when smoking your first cigarettes all those years ago.

Many people don’t quit smoking because they think it’s too hard, and it’s true that quitting isn’t easy for many people. After all, not only is smoking a physical addiction, but a psychological habit as well. Most people will try and quit many times before finally being successful.

Don’t forget to adjust your clocks!

Daylight Savings Time is coming up this weekend so get ready to spring forward!

Daylight Savings Time is a way of making better use of the daylight in the evenings by setting the clocks forward one hour during the longer days of summer.

At 2 a.m. on Sunday March 13 our clocks are readjusted forward by an hour.

This adjustment will take place automatically on smartphones, computers and tablets, but for those still living with non-automated devices on your wrists or shelves you will have to manually upgrade the time to stay current.

Sorry to say we’ll lose an hour of sleep because of the change, but it also means we’re one hour closer to spring…ahhhhh.

Chinook Headache Relief

Calgary Laserworks Can Help!

Hope you had a wonderful Family Day long weekend and were able to celebrate Valentine’s Day with that special someone : ) The weather here in Calgary certainly lent itself to getting outdoors and enjoying some fresh air, blue skies and Vitamin D!

As beautiful as the weather’s been in our city lately, with the warm Chinook winds rolling in, I’ve had numerous calls about people suffering with nasty “Chinook headaches”.

Even though one of a Chinook’s most striking features is the Chinook arch (a band of stationary stratus clouds) and even gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, these warm Rocky Mountain winds can cause profound weather changes which can set off severe headaches, and even migraines, in some locals who suffer with them.

Headaches are caused when blood vessels in the brain expand and press against nerves. A migraine can have many symptoms characterized by nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound, auras (light spots), numbness and difficulty in speech. Migraines are definitely known for their severe pain and can last for days, and in some cases weeks, making life pretty debilitating.

If you’re one of those souls who long to enjoy the lovely Chinook weather and beauty that accompanies it, but who suffers badly from these weather-related headaches, relief IS possible.

Calgary Laserworks Can Help with Low Level Laser Therapy (Cold Laser)

LLLT is more and more in demand for treating migraine headaches. Low level laser, instead of needles, targets key energy points on the body helping patients heal more quickly and with longer lasting results, allowing them to get back to their daily lives. Low level laser therapy is a safe and non-drug alternative for pain control.

A Fresh Start for 2016

Happy New Year!

quitsmoking2016Looking for an easy-to-keep resolution to help you quit smoking and improve your overall health? Try low level laser therapy. It’s

  • Safe
  • Easy
  • Affordable
  • Effective

If you’ve tried to quit smoking you know how difficult it is. Few people ever succeed with things like gum or the patch because they are still putting nicotine into their body. Laser therapy treatments can help manage nicotine cravings, keeping you calm and relaxed during the first crucial weeks.

Laser therapy uses “cold lasers” instead of needles in an acupuncture-like treatment. The procedure is non-invasive, non-thermal, safe, pain-free and is considered a non-medical procedure. It helps with the physical part of the addiction by stimulating key pathways on the ears, nose, fingers and wrists (acupuncture points). This stimulation provides a natural high by sending a signal to your brain to produce large amounts of pain relieving chemicals called endorphins. This flush of endorphins leaves you with a feeling of overall well-being, while greatly alleviating most, if not all, of the cravings for nicotine, withdrawal symptoms, and the temptation to smoke another cigarette.

Don’t delay. Quit today.

We will support you and work with you when you need it the most. During this time you will be making changes both physically and habitually. Calgary Laserworks will:

  • help you understand these changes as this is the key to success
  • provide information to help you change your behavior, make smarter choices, and of course, live a healthier life
  • help you kick the nicotine addiction because we know quitting can be difficult, a bit frightening, and stressful
